In October 2017 P3 Group hosted the first Connected Car Experience Days in Berlin.

120 visitors were experiencing connected services in 10 vehicles with all peripheral devices attached. Employees of eight OEMs as well as journalists and students visited the three-day event.

Connected services in cars reveal room for improvement

Berlin / Aachen, November 2, 2017 – The services in connected cars are still mere patchwork. The current offerings do not have a holistic design, nor are they sufficiently reliable and consistent. In short: They do not evoke the users’ enthusiasm. Relatively speaking, BMW offers the best user experience. This is the quintessence of the first P3 Connected Car Experience Days we hosted from October 25 to 27 in Berlin. 120 visitors could test the user experience in the connected car – live and individually in 10 lead vehicles with all peripheral devices attached. The three-day event was visited by employees of eight OEMs, journalists and students. The participants widely agreed: Some services are convincing but the overall user experience is not yet really inspiring.

Our tests have shown that the OEMs are on the right track. However, they are still very technology and feature driven. None of the vehicles offer a consistent overall experience including all touchpoints”, explains Tino Müller, Head Head of the P3 Competence Center Connected Mobility. He adds: “In any case, the mere accumulation of features does not lead to user excitement. There is certainly still some room for improvement.”
